Imports Making Better Wagons?

As more and more new cars are being created, the competition is stronger than even in the auto industry.  If a brand or model isn't doing as well as it should, the brand will scrap it and redesign it entirely.  The Kia Spectra was a popular model for many years, but the class got too crowded so the Spectra went away and was replaced with the Kia Forte.  With all the current VW Specials being offered right now, places like Ford Macon need to make sure they are offering the best products at the best price to remain competitive.  The station wagon class used to be quite popular, but as crossovers become increasingly popular, the station wagon seems to be phasing out.

U.S. News and Rankings evaluated seven affordable compact wagons, and domestics made up the bottom three!  That means that American brands seem to be giving up on this class that is still hanging on.  You might find a used model at Greensboro Mercury Dealer, but there won't be any new wagon models.  Rather, you will find compact SUVs or crossover vehicles.  Listed in order, the seven affordable wagons are: 2010 Hyundai Elantra Touring, 2010 VW Jetta SportWagen, 2010 Mini Clubman, 2010 Toyota Matrix, 2010 Chevrolet HHR, 2010 Chrysler PT Cruiser, and 2010 Dodge Caliber.  These ratings are based on several reviews and categories like exterior and interior design, safety, performance, and reliability.

There is good news, because if you are in the market for a Chevy HHR you will likely pay less than MSRP.  The average amount actually paid for the 2010 model ranges from $17,706 up to $24,097 while the suggested MSRP range is $18,720 up to $26,255.  That makes this a great value.  The same scenario applies to the Dodge Caliber and Chrysler PT Cruiser, people are paying far less than MSRP.  While with the import brands, the average amount paid is very close to, if not more than, MSRP.
