GM Production Halted!

GM halted its production again today at three plants due to part shortages from Mexico. GM sells and produces models like the Chevy Silverado using parts that are imported from various areas around the world. So far for the week of the 11th of July, there have been six plant stoppages due to parts shortages from Mexico. Ford has also had to deal with recent parts shortages and Ford's former Mercury brand can be purchased at a Lincoln Mercury Orange County dealership.

Be sure to check out VW Deals for excellent competing models. A plant in Fairfax, Kansas builds models such as the Chevy Malibu and the Buick LaCrosse, and the plant had to shut down. The shut down of the plant was posted on the bulletin of the local UAW in that area. Another plant in Detroit and Missouri were canceled today as well.

It is not known how much money GM will lose from the parts shortage, but the company is probably not happy about it. However, it is not the Mexican part supplier's fault because the major reason for delays have to do with railroad problems stemming from Hurricane Alex.

GM's plant in Flint, Michigan also had to cancel its services yesterday due to parts shortages. Those shortages were also due to hurricane related transportation problems. Ford has also dealt with its own hurricane related parts shortages. Ford had to cancel production at a plant in Oakville, Ontario due to similar related transportation problems.

As a result of the hurricane, the Ford Fiesta is anticipated to be delayed by two weeks. The Ford Fiesta is Ford's latest subcompact North American model that has done well in the European market over the past several years. It will debuted in the United States some time in August most likely and the model will likely become a top selling subcompact vehicle.
